Eau Claire Area School District
The Eau Claire Area School District (ECASD) is a school district in western Wisconsin that covers approximately and includes the entire city of Eau Claire. With a student enrollment of approximately 10,700 and an annual budget of $121.4 million, it is the eighth largest school district in Wisconsin. There are 12 elementary schools in the district, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, and 2 charter schools. The Eau Claire Area School District Board of Education is the policy-making body responsible for selecting the superintendent and overseeing the district's budget, strategic planning, operations, curriculum, personnel and facilities. The ECASD Board of Education has been granted the power to carry out such duties by the State of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Legislature.
Each year in April the Board of Education accepts applications from high school sophomores and juniors to serve as the Student Representative to the Board of education. A committee of the Board interviews selected students and a recommendation is made to the Board in May.
